This is for all the lonely people
Thinkin' that life has passed them by
Don't give up until you drink from the silver cup, and ride that highway in the sky
This is for all the single people
Thinkin' that love has left them dry
Don't give up until you drink from the silver cup, you never know until you try
Well, I'm on my way, yes, I'm back to stay
Well, I'm on my way back home
This is for all the lonely people
Thinkin' that life has passed them by
Don't give up until you drink from the silver cup,
Never take you down or never give you up
Never know until you try...
The Highway in the Sky
refers to the Kingdom of Heaven, the way to God and eternal life. It is what you were made for..
“And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.” (Isaiah 35:8, KJV)
The silver cup was the cup of Joseph, the youngest of the 12 sons of Jacob who (being the favorite of his father) was betrayed by his brothers for jealousy, but ended up saving them all and ultimately (being a word-picture or type of Christ) the world. You can read the story in the first book in the Bible (Genesis chapters 37-50).
Rabbinical Judaism has two messiahs, messiah Ben Joseph and messiah Ben David, but in reality these two figures are fulfilled in the single life of Jesus of Nazareth, who comes first to be delivered to death for envy by his own brothers, but who returns like the hidden Afikomen revealed at the end of the Jewish Passover seder to save Israel and thus the world, who was tragically separated "from his brethren" (Genesis 49:26).
To drink from the silver cup is to drink from Jesus' cup! Joseph's Silver cup was used to divine, to understand mysteries and see the future, a perfect picture of Jesus to whom "dwells all the fulness of God in a human form” (Colossians 2:9, KJV).
Don't give up searching for the meaning of life! The world with all its shallow, glitzy tinsel is lying to you! The universe has meaning and purpose, and you are an indispensable part of that purpose! You are more valuable in the sight of God than you can imagine. And Isaiah 35:8 tells us that this is a way of holiness where even a fool can't go wrong! Jesus is this wonderful, easy way..
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6, KJV)
Don't give up until you drink from the silver cup and ride that highway in the sky!
