Ahoy shipmates! My grandchildren and I marveled the other day to watch this great Japanese vessel being ushered safely to dock. Because of the extreme value of the vessel, the hazards of its docking were not left to chance. The depth of the water, the sheer mass of turning such a large vessel in a tight area, hidden underwater obstacles, all of these threats to the safe docking of the ship were neutralized by taking extreme control of the process. Nothing was left to chance. Too much was at risk to allow the captain of the ship to dock himself.

I have good news for the broken in spirit, for those who mourn their unworthiness and the stubborn stain of remaining sin, despairing of safe arrival into heaven's port. If salvation depends on your obedience (it does require obedience), your knowledge (it certainly requires knowledge), your perfect faith and righteousness (except your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees ..), then we all have reason to be anxious. Our obedience, faith, righteousness - we fail daily in all, in many things we offend. But the good news that our security is bound up in the goodness, faith and obedience of another, even Christ, the Author and Finisher (completer, perfecter) of our faith. Christ, the World, the Kingdom, the Saints - it's a package deal. All of these things and more are wrapped up in Him (Romans 11:36). Our fate is as secure as His, for all that are in Christ have been there from the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4) and as surely as our God has "foreknown" (for- loved) us (Romans 8:29, 30) He has "predestinated", called, justified and glorified". It's a package deal. That's why Jesus said this:

Mat 13:12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance:

but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

You're in Christ or you're out .. And those who trust Jesus are in, and their safe arrival is safely superintended. So next time you worry about your faithfulness, rest in His, and remember that the seething power that commands the continuum guarantees your safe arrival into The Kingdom. Abide in Him children!
