Alice Bailey, Bob Dylan, and the Rolling Stones...

Alice Bailey, the late New-Age guru and disciple of Madame Blavatsky accused the Jews of the sin of materialism (as opposed to the progressive spiritual insight of Greeks and Gnostics), and in an

attempt to debunk miracles and the power of the God of the Jews chides them for their immaturity:

"The Jew has ever been (could he but usefully remember it) the symbol of humanity - evolving, seeking, restless, materialistic, separative and greedy.... I have enlarged thus upon the Jewish conflict because it is the symbol of all past conflicts in human history, based upon universal selfishness and the greed of undeveloped humanity." (The "Tibetan Master" via Alice Bailey, _A Treatise on the Seven Rays_, p.635

But in Psalm 66:6 we see the REAL birth of Jewish intransigence:

He turned the sea into dry land: they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in him.” (Psalms 66:6)

If the early Hebrews indeed crossed the Red Sea on dry land, the world is in BIG trouble. If the Creator of the universe is able to miraculously interject His power at will into this world on behalf of His own people and purposes, Satan's fantasy of becoming "like the most high" is doomed. The same could be said of any miracle. No one fears a powerless God.

In a video here: https://youtu.be/uQW5SmSjrY8 we see that the Biblical account of the miraculous Red Sea Crossing is now a forensically verified event. Were it possible to bring the unbelieving to faith by a proof this would be it. But no amount of proof will convince those determined to disbelieve. The problem is not unbelief, but hatred of what they DO believe. The problem is not the head, but the heart...and the heart rules the head.

"For the Jews require a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom:" (1 Corinthians 1:22, John 4:48)

Why do Jews require a sign? Why must they have proof? Why are they ... (I hate to say it)...materialists? They might answer:

"Because 56,000 cubic miles of water parted and we, of all peoples of the earth, were chosen to be led across on dry ground by The Creator. If you want to argue or debate about absolute truth, go ahead. We're not going anywhere."

Who can blame them? Did not the fact of Christ's resurrection serve the same purpose for Christians? They (as we) will not abandon the author of these scandalous acts. In the end we are both ... materialists standing only on forensic facts. That word has such a lovely ring doesn't it?

When the Hebrews entered the promised land at Jericho Rahab told them "I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you. For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath" (Joshua 2:9-11).

If the Red Sea Crossing were merely a folk tale, everyone in Canaan had heard of it and trembled at the arrival of the Hebrews and their God. The miraculous continuance of Jewry today demands Orthodox Judaism's rejection of any God other than the One who not only led them out of Egypt but re-established the modern Jewish state. Moses warned them:

"If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul" (Deuteronomy 13:1-3)

Orthodox Judaism today views Christians as dupes, Jesus as a deceiver, and Messianic Jews as undermining the Jewish state, ironically the identical position Christian states rightly held until recent times. Now they know how we felt. In the corrosive unbelief that made them the pariah of the Christian world we see the hand of God again "working all things together for the good of them that love God".

Could Christendom have reestablished the Jewish state after nearly 2000 years? Jewish unbelief kept them unassimilated and distinct, banned and isolated in ghettos throughout Christian Europe until chased back to the land of their birth by the Holocaust and Zionism.

Surely the underlying pathos in Bob Dylan's (Robert Zimmerman's) is obvious:

'How does it feel,

how does it feel?

To be on your own,

with no direction home

A complete unknown,

like a rolling stone.."

Surely this is the 20th century's theme song for the wandering Jew! In the final verse of the Old Testament God says that He will "turn the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse." How can our hearts not go out to our fathers the Jews?? Are not our hearts and future bound up with theirs as Jacob's heart was bound with Benjamin's?? Is not our end theirs as well? We are ONE family with a common destiny!!

"If the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?" (Romans 11:12 KJV)
