Behind Politics

An article I read this morning (click here) prompted me to comment on the political tone of America and the West that we've had to endure since the 2016 election.

The election of Donald Trump, like Britain's Brexit, was a referendum on globalism, a pushback against over-the-top pressure toward Communism (i.e. Socialism, Progressivism) taking place in America and the world. It was the majority of America's voters saying "We don't want to be globalists. We like our culture and want to remain Americans". I don't care how you voted. I'm merely telling you why Trump was elected. It was because he was not like any of the others . . he was not one of them, a lineup of power-hungry sycophants, all of which, it was feared, would inevitably cave to Washington's inexplicable infatuation with globalism. Since Mr. Trump has taken office the globalists, whether from the right or the left, have been on the attack thru their media propaganda organs trying to maintain their political control and base. They have slandered, insulted, lied, stalled, sabotaged or undermined in every and any way possible the implementation of Donald Trump's stated promises to his electorate. What we are witnessing is a conflict of ideas about the direction the world is taking. But if we are students of scripture, we should be aware that there is more going on than meets the eye.

Scripture teaches that The Creator of this universe has all power, and controls world events, including national elections. In Daniel chapter four God decrees that the King of Babyon will lose his sanity to learn humility:

Daniel 4:17 "This matter (the heavenly decree that King Nebuchadnezzar should go mad) is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men" .

and here . .

Daniel 2:21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

Some will argue the phrase "basest of men" in Daniel 4:17 fits Trump perfectly, and they may be right. But it is inarguable that The Most High appointed Donald Trump as president. To argue this point is to deny scripture, history, and in the end reality itself. What is taking place on planet earth is a spiritual battle - one that the haters of the God of The Bible are going to lose.

The first verse of the 45th chapter of the Book of Isaiah begins like this:

"Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;"

Cyrus the Great (see left) ruled from 600 to 538 B.C. and founded the Achaemenid Empire, the first Persian Empire, which today is known as Iran. The Jews had been taken captive by the Babylonians when they overthrew Jerusalem in 597 B.C and installed King Zedekiah as a puppet king at the tender age of 21. It was Cyrus who gave the command allowing the Jews to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the Temple:

"And in the first year of Cyrus, king of Persia, at the completion of the word of the Lord in the mouth of Jeremiah, the Lord aroused the spirit of Cyrus the king of Persia, and he issued a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying: So said Cyrus the king of Persia: All the kingdoms of the earth has the Lord God of the heavens delivered to me, and He commanded me to build Him a House in Jerusalem, which is in Judea. Who among you is of all His people, may the Lord his God be with him, and he may ascend."

2 Chronicles 36:22-23

The Bible, along with those who believe it, is a insurmountable geopolitical problem for a world that hates Christ (John 15:18, 19), because it keeps coming true. We don't mind a politically correct Jesus along the lines of Buddha or Mahatma Ghandi, some "great moral teacher" who suggests 7 ways to a better life. The rub comes at claims of Jesus' exclusivity, that "no man cometh to the Father but by me" or that "he who honors not the Son honors not the Father which has sent Him" (John 5:23), and lastly these terrifying words: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation" (John 5:25-29). We hate God because we hate the light and our deeds are evil. You don't make Jesus Lord of your life -

He already is Lord of your life . .

Suffice it to say that God has appointed Donald Trump as president of the most powerful nation on earth, like it or not. His recent announcement on the state of Israel has raised the ire of the United Nations and much of the world. But God controls Trump just as He controlled Cyrus the Great in sending the Jews home, just as surely as He directed King Nebuchadnezzar to invade and burn Jerusalem with fire (Jeremiah 37:8). It was Jehova God who hooked up Jared and Ivanka, who gave Donald Trump a Jewish son-in-law whom he loves, who gave Jared the ear of, and influence with the most powerful man on earth. It was God who raised up the Ayatollahs and used Barack Obama to give nuclear weapons to Iran, whose determination is to gather the nations to Armageddon (Zephaniah 3:8), who has made Jerusalem a "burdensome stone" and a "cup of trembling unto all the people round about" (Zechariah 12:2), who will "seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem" (12:9), whose "feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east" (Zechariah 14:4), when the house of David shall "shall look upon me whom they have pierced" (Zechariah 12:10).

The God of Jacob uses men with or without their permission. Remember Balaam who couldn't control what came out of his mouth? Or Caiaphas prophesying that Christ should die for the sins of Israel (John 11:51) ?

There is no man, devil or nation, or coalition of the same that can hinder or forestall the inevitable literal, physical return of the lowly carpenter of Nazareth, Jesus, the Son of Man, the son of David, the Son of God who will "come with ten thousands of His saints" (Jude 1:14). And where will His throne be? You guessed it. Jerusalem.

Might want to be on the right side of that . .
